London – The world’s longest running photographic publication, the British Journal of Photography, has launched a digital iPad version.
The app was specially designed using the Mag+ Platform to make the best possible use of the tablet’s capabilities. Rather than producing a digital version of the magazine’s print issue, the iPad version features moving images and film, seamlessly integrated into the page layouts.
A feature called Stills to Motion includes work by photographers Robbie Cooper and gif-artists Reed + Rader. The tablet magazine format enables such artists to be highlighted alongside still photographers – without having to break from print to online.
The use of new technologies and digital imagery is changing the way in which photography is consumed and produced. For more information, see our forthcoming show report from Les Rencontres d’Arles photography fair.
