Paris – Swiss architecture practice 1/100 has created Nomad, a transportable events installation consisting of five caravans, which can be used for different events and functions.
Nomad is on show in the Quai Branly Museum gardens, Paris. Each mobile pavilion unfolds to create a temporary ice cream vendor, sound system, kindergarten, stage or sheltered information point for visitors.
‘Lightweight and mobile, five informal settlements provide spaces for events, refreshments and subsistence,’ says 1/100. ‘Spread along the paths, in the glades and under the museum ship, they trigger interactions and create a new field of relationships.’
Staging moveable events that are adaptable and temporary is a great way of re-inventing a location and creating centres of conviviality.
