Fresh design: Retail comes alive in new store

10 : 06 : 2011 Bar : Tomorrowland : Super A Market

Tokyo – Japanese interior designer Masamichi Katayama has styled the Super A Market boutique in Tokyo. Conceptualised by Japanese retailer Tomorrowland, the store combines the aesthetics of an antique shop, a pharmacy and a bar.

Taking its cue from the freshness found in flea, fish and vegetable markets, Super A Market aims to recreate that same alive feeling. Wooden floors and tiled spaces evoke a natural and relaxed setting. Acrylic fixtures, which display vintage accessories, are featured throughout.

The two-storey store features shop-in-shop sections, selling men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, cosmetics, fragrances, books and magazines.

As explored in LS:N Global’s Beyond Retail trend, such design is a great example of how supermarkets can cater for the different needs, tastes and service requirements of a sophisticated audience.
