Madrid – Spanish architects MYCC have designed the interior of a café and bookshop.
The architects were tasked with creating a flexible space that can be used for retail, exhibitions and socialising for Tipos Infames, Libros y Vinos. The former industrial building was renovated, with certain features left exposed, retaining the aesthetic of New York lofts and galleries of the early 70s.
A reinforced glass walkway connects a gallery area on a lower level with the store and café above. The bright orange basement area will be used for events, as well as acting as a permanent gallery.
An increasing number of retailers are turning their stores into social spaces, a subject we explored in our Coffee Plus micro trend.
