Milan – Public space redesign organisation Esterni took over unused spaces across the city last week for the Public Design Festival.
The festival focused on giving new life and purpose to abandoned buildings while exploring themes relating to public space.
An 18th-century farmhouse was turned into a design showroom, where concerts were held and local food was served in the evenings. Mexican architect Ivan Hernandez designed and erected a public street library, and another public space experiment saw the creation of an encampment to host visitors under an overpass.
