Tokyo – Japanese design studio Nendo is presenting a solo exhibition of furniture at Art Stage Singapore this month, entitled Dancing Squares.
The show, to be held from 13th to 16th January, will present a bookshelf, a stool, a lamp and a table, each made by assembling individual square shapes. Collectively, the adjoining squares convey a ‘sense of motion’ in otherwise static interior furniture. Each square casts light in opposing directions, resulting in a distorted array of cascading and tumbling shapes, and adding to the personality of each piece.
The fluency and simplicity of the Dancing Squares indicates a push towards leanness and cultural decluttering, as detailed in our Super-minimal design direction.
