UK, France – My favourite Seeds in the product design sector were about a sprouting stool, a miniature chicken factory and an endlessly adaptable bathroom collection.
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec’s 85-piece bathroom collection for Axor urged consumers to have more involvement with their objects by choosing how they are combined. I like its simplicity both in idea and design.
I-Wen Lee’s The Growing Stool was a personal favourite of mine this year. Addressing the idea of mass production, Lee’s work is a great example of creating an emotional attachment to products that encourages us to think more about the design process and the story behind the things we use every day.
Kieren Jones’ Community Commerce project is the ultimate example of the Rurban trend. His chicken coup/fashion/product design concept has the right mix of eccentricity with reasoning and relevance.
Every day from 20 December until the end of the year, the LS:N Global team is choosing its favourite stories from 2010. We will resume normal service on Tuesday 4 January 2011.
