Tube fare: London unveils new station shop

London – The old Fulham Broadway underground station is now a farmers’ market food store.

The Union Market, designed by Cada Design Group, combines the atmosphere of a farmers’ market with supermarket-style convenience. Food can be delivered by electric van to homes within a mile of the shop.

Inside, original features such as ticket booths have been turned into a seating area for lunch or coffee. Reconditioned pendant lights from a former Dunlop factory, milk churns and an old baker’s sign add to the rustic feel.

The store has 10 departments, including a bakery and a takeaway section. Fruit and vegetables are stored in wooden boxes.
