Going native: RCA show plays with tradition

London – A beautiful combination of indulgence and vibrancy was on display at the Royal College of Art MA fashion show. Eclectic collections ruled the runway this year.

Student Danielle Romeril took her inspiration from paganism and Native American heritage. She felt it was important to remain loyal to traditional techniques and authenticity using pony skin, dream-catchers and even dangling porcupine needles.

Trine Lindegaard Jensen was interested in eccentricity and collecting. She combined a bright palette with a playful take on embellishment, including hundreds of hoops and tiny cars driving up shirt button stands.

Morten Underbjerg Olesen’s loose-fitting silhouettes were opulent with flowers, jewels and fur. His disregard for the neutral minimalism seen so much on the catwalk in the past few seasons was refreshing.
