Located in the former home of Beckmans College of Design, Alma was founded to provide ‘intellectual and social nourishment’ to its members. ‘We aspire to provide a space in which to grow, learn new skills, meet new people, start a company or embark on a new project,’ the club said in a statement.

Set across five floors, the club features social areas, workspaces, meeting rooms, editing suites, an outdoor terrace, dining areas and bespoke furniture and objets d’art from independent designers and architectural firm Tham & Videgård.

The club offers five types of membership – Open, Dedicated, Studios, Out-of-Town and Private Office. Members on the Open plan can access the restaurant and communal elements, while Dedicated members receive permanent desk and storage space. Studios is designed for teams of three or more, while the Out-of-Town plan, which includes the benefits of the Open plan, is aimed at those who are not permanently based in Stockholm. The Private Office scheme grants access to a more traditional office environment with a range of household amenities.

The Big Picture

As co-working enters the mainstream, members’ clubs are developing collaborative workspaces designed to foster creative thinking. Read our briefing on start-up hub Station F to learn more about the rise of the co-working model.
