Workplace F-abric

Zürich – Freitag has developed its own clothing line made from specially developed sustainable fabric.

  • The hemp and flax-based material is produced within a 2,500km radius of the factory to reduce carbon emissions
  • The Opaque But Still Transparent range features pieces made from biodegradable twill denim

The toxin-free clothing range has been developed with the help of textile experts to create garments that are fully biodegradable, from the thread stitching to the material itself. The Opaque But Still Transparent collection, part of the F-abric line, includes items for both sexes and marks the first time the brand, known for its production of recycled material bags, has ventured into apparel.

The biodegradable material was originally conceived to produce sustainable work clothes for Freitag’s employees and the range has been designed with a nod to these roots, with garments such as blazers, shirt and tie combinations, and suspender button work trousers.

‘Anyone who takes a serious look at the topic of sustainability quickly realises that it has nothing to do with short-term thinking,’ says Daniel Freitag, co-founder of Freitag. ‘I am convinced that [a holistic and long-term] approach is essential for the environment and for society, and that these strategies will also take hold on a wider scale.’

The Big Picture

In line with Whole-system Thinking, brands are becoming more attuned to nature in order to create products that benefit both themselves and the environment.
