Boutique studios are changing the rules of the game with upbeat classes that make participants feel empowered.
Boxing is typically associated with brutal training regimens and testosterone-fuelled fights, but boutique studios are making the sport more accessible.
London-based KOBOX, with its modern boxing ring and well-equipped studio, is a far cry from the dark and gritty settings traditionally associated with boxing. ‘There’s a massive fear factor associated with boxing,’ founder Shane Collins tells LS:N Global. ‘Everything in this studio, including the materials, colour palette, rounded furnishings and finishes, are designed to soften the mood and take away feelings of unease.’
1Rebel’s Rumble classes evoke a club-like atmosphere with upbeat music and LED lighting to encourage participants to lose themselves in the moment.
