Global –Google has launched OnHub Makers, a platform highlighting a range of inventive redesigns for its OnHub router by TP-LINK.

  • The original router design files were shared with international artists, designers and makers to demonstrate the limitless design possibilities
  • Google hopes to help ‘make your home internet look like your home’

A shaggy-haired offering from Thing Industries and decorative ceramic piece by Helen Levi are among the eclectic products available to buy through the OnHub Makers platform, which presents a refreshing shift away from generic router design.

Google hopes the emphasis on forward-thinking design will encourage designs that buyers will be happy to place out in the open, where routers have been proven to perform better, rather than inside a cupboard or on top of a shelf.

Consumers inspired by the designer shells are encouraged to download the makers pack and create their own customised designs using the 3D CAD files or 2D patterns. The results can be shared using the hashtag #OnHubMakers and may be featured in the Makers online gallery.

The Big Picture
