San Francisco – When it comes to designer Yves Béhar, LS:N Global could definitely see this one coming. First his Fuseproject brought One Laptop Per Child; now it is working with Mexican organisation Ver Bien Para Aprender Mejor (See Better to Learn Better).
The aim is to give away 400,000 pairs of free spectacles to disadvantaged children in Mexico each year. Research behind the project shows that many Mexican children’s grades are adversely affected by poor eyesight; up to 11% of children don’t achieve their academic potential because they can’t see properly.
The glasses come in bright colours such as pink, blue and red, come in various sizes and are crafted to be highly durable. For more on Béhar’s vision to combine design with purpose, read our recent Seed.
