San Francisco – Consumer electronics company Bitfinder has created Awair, a smart connected device that monitors the home’s air quality.

  • The average person spends 90% of his or her time indoors, where pollutant levels can be up to 10 times higher than outdoors
  • Awair helps to combat headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, trouble concentrating and irritations caused by poor air quality

According to Awair, better health starts with the air you breathe. The device sits in the home, office or other indoor space, monitoring the air quality of that environment. Sensors detect humidity, CO2, temperature, fine dust particles and volatile organic compounds, sending the information to an app that aggregates these readings to give an overall score and suggesting measures to improve conditions.

The small, discreet Awair, which resembles an early DAB digital radio, connects with smart devices, automatically integrating with products including Philips Hue Lightbulbs and the Misfit Shine, and there are plans to integrate with Nest and IFTTT in the near future.
