London – Checking the time on your Apple Watch might give you more than you bargained for with rehabstudio’s Life Clock app.
Life Clock takes activity data from Apple’s HealthKit, giving the wearer a real-time indication of their predicted life expectancy. LS:N Global first covered life expectancy apps back in 2013, but since the advent and adoption of wearable technology, the techniques used to measure biometrics are becoming more sophisticated and the data more extensive, giving new-found significance to each of life’s little decisions. ‘Life is limited, but most of us live like it isn’t: we eat fast food, exercise too little and put work first when we should prioritise family and friends,’ says rehabstudio’s strategy partner Tom Le Bree. The app will feed back the information to the wearer along with recommendations to inspire a more balanced, healthier lifestyle.
The Big Picture: Life expectancy apps such as Deadline are compelling Self-Quants to live healthier lives by looking past the excess and abstinence cycles of The Polarity Paradox.
