Glasgow – A former box factory-turned-brewery and bar offers visitors the chance to brew their own beer.
Guests at the Drygate in Glasgow – the UK’s first experiential craft brewery – can now sign up to a weekly DIY beer club, where they can have a go at brewing their own beer. For those with bigger ambitions, advice is available on branding, including packaging and bottling, and on developing trial runs of your own prototype beers.
The service offers an appealing alternative to the often hopeless attempts at home brewing. Beers including Bearface lager and Gladeye IPA are produced on-site and the company’s brewery operation is visible to visitors.
An interest in the provenance of beer and in buying locally brewed ale, is a popular trend that looks set to continue. For more on the explosion of craft beer culture and how consumers are fuelling the trend, read our Men’s Beer Market report.
