New York – SONOS Playground Deconstructed, an installation at the Museum of the Moving Image as part of the Spectacle: The Music exhibition, enables consumers to watch visualisations of music.
Visitors to the installation, by designers from Aramique, Red Paper Heart and Fake Love, are invited to step into an environment of visual sound. The space has five walls covered in one-inch-wide white lines and two-inch black lines, and a reflective floor. Visitors simply select a song from Spotify using an iPad and the lines move in time with the music, creating a visualisation of the music on the walls.
Using motion-capture technology, participants can then interact with the visualisation and alter it, becoming part of it. The aim is to create an immersive environment that brings music to life in a visual format.
