Mountain View, California – Google has teamed up with some of the world’s leading art museums to offer a Street View approach into galleries.
The Google Art project enables users to walk virtually through 17 of the world’s top museums, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the National Gallery in London and The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Users can view 1,061 artworks from room to room to create their own collections. In addition, 17 special gigapixel images, one for each museum’s most treasured piece, let viewers zoom in to view brush-stroke details.
LS:N Global expects retailers to pick up on this development. Soon consumers may be able to wander around their favourite shop. For more on how to offer a real-world experience online, read our Retail report.
