New York – We recently reported on menswear designer Richard Chai’s new retail installation in a shipping container. The next installation for the city’s Building Fashion event was a temporary, foam-covered concept store for designer Siki Im that opened on 5–15 November. Created by architecture firm Leong Leong, the store aimed to explore collaborations between fashion designers and architects.
The interior and exterior of the store were coated in textured soy-based foam. Garments were embedded beneath the foam cover in a bid to ‘reinforce the dichotomy of two environments – public and private, visible and invisible,’ according to the designer.
