Frankfurt am Main – Fitting into LS:N Global’s Emotional Home design direction, product designer Rochus Jacob has been shortlisted for Germany’s Young Talent Design Prize 2011.
As we edit our lifestyles, we seek products that evoke an emotional response such as those by Jacob. Instead of being attached to a wall, his radiator stands in the middle of the room, inspired by a campfire. ‘Heat stirs emotions. By moving the radiator deeper in to the living space the interaction becomes more present,’ Jacob explains. It also helps to reduce heat consumption by about two degrees.
By rocking his ‘Murakami Chair’, electricity is produced for a reading lamp and food is kept cool using water rather than electricity in the ‘Thermodynamic Cooler’.
The winner will be announced on February 11, 2011.
