Utrecht, The Netherlands – LS:N Global has seen the pop-up concept take off this year with shops and installations popping up for a short time. Now the idea has arrived in Utrecht in the form of Pop-Up furniture by Dutch designers Carmela Bogman and Rogier Martens.
This time, however, the Pop-Up is here to stay. Users can pump up the furniture from the pavement, and when they leave they pump it back again and it will disappear into the ground.
‘This means the city’s inhabitants have the freedom to decide when and how they want to use the Pop-Up,’ says Bogman.
Several keys are distributed around the neighbourhood, providing access to the pumping system. Depending on the height available, users can decide whether they want to create a bench, a stage or a lounge area. Read our Dreamtelligence report for more on how to incorporate fun into everyday design.
