Pioneering perfume

06 : 01 : 2017 Le Grand Museé Du Parfum : Paris : Perfume

Paris – Le Grand Musée du Parfum is a new museum dedicated to the exploration of perfume.

  • The museum hosts a variety of immersive, high-tech exhibitions and installations
  • It is split into three sections that examine the history, emotional impact and creative process of perfume-making, respectively

The museum takes visitors on a sensory journey through the history of perfume-making, reveals how perfumers capture fragrance and examines the connection between scent and emotion.

The exhibitions are showcased through a series of innovative graphics and interfaces, state-of-the-art technology and interactive artworks. The museum is housed in a 15,000-square-foot 19th-century mansion that was once home to renowned designer Christian Lacroix’s luxury fashion house.

The museum is split into three sections: Histoires de Parfums examines the history of perfume; Immersion Sensorielle explores the emotional power of scent; and L’Art du Parfumeur looks at the perspective, creative processes and techniques of perfume-makers.

Le Grand Musée du Parfum will host performances, workshops and events alongside the permanent exhibitions, as well as partnerships with luxury brands and craftwork organisations.

The Big Picture
