Paris – Le Grand Musée du Parfum is a new museum dedicated to the exploration of perfume.
The museum takes visitors on a sensory journey through the history of perfume-making, reveals how perfumers capture fragrance and examines the connection between scent and emotion.
The exhibitions are showcased through a series of innovative graphics and interfaces, state-of-the-art technology and interactive artworks. The museum is housed in a 15,000-square-foot 19th-century mansion that was once home to renowned designer Christian Lacroix’s luxury fashion house.
The museum is split into three sections: Histoires de Parfums examines the history of perfume; Immersion Sensorielle explores the emotional power of scent; and L’Art du Parfumeur looks at the perspective, creative processes and techniques of perfume-makers.
Le Grand Musée du Parfum will host performances, workshops and events alongside the permanent exhibitions, as well as partnerships with luxury brands and craftwork organisations.
Museums are harnessing advances in technology to create innovative and emotional sensory experiences. For more, see our macrotrend The E-motional Economy.
