Zurich – The Paradise Paradoxe exhibition examines how perfume can be used to create non-verbal connections between people, places and objects.

Designed by video and installation artist Elodie Pong, Paradise Paradoxe is an investigation into the invisible olfactory architecture of everyday life.

The exhibition, which features plants grown inside 3D printers and a robot that projects the names of established perfume brands onto a wall, comments on the increased use of synthetic scent compounds in the perfume industry. Several videos juxtapose elements of modern olfactory theory with images of a dancer.

Historically, the world of scent has been shrouded in secrecy, but consumers are increasingly interested in the ingredients and methods behind their favourite fragrances, as outlined in our Mix Masters microtrend.
