London, Malmo, New York – Digital design studio ustwo is launching Monument Valley, a new interactive puzzle app inspired by Dutch graphic artist MC Escher.
Described by ustwo designer Ken Wong as ‘somewhere between exploring a toy shop and reading The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’, the app requires users to navigate through mind-bending buildings that resemble Escher’s famous optical illusions.
The app is now in beta testing, but users can sign up for a trial through the Monument Valley website.
Although inspired by an artist, computer games have become an art form in their own right. For more examples of high-brow game design, see our Game Imitates Art microtrend.
