Tokyo – Japanese design studio Nendo has created a new concept store for fashion designer Issey Miyake.
The 24 Issey Miyake shop in the Shibuya Parco shopping complex in Tokyo features Miyake’s new Bilbao bag. Instead of being placed on shelves, the bags in pink, blue and green ‘float’ on top of a set of variable-height fixtures made of thin steel rods that stand like a field of prairie grass.
‘Supported by ‘points’, rather than by surfaces or lines, the bags seem to waft in the air like flowers in a light breeze, creating the illusion of a field of flowers in the store,’ the design studio notes.
LS:N Global has previously reported on how Nendo makes everyday items into sculptural objects.
