Milan – ‘It’s time to be bold.’ These were the words of Miuccia Prada backstage before showing her spring/summer 2011 collection for Prada at Milan Fashion Week.
Describing her collection as, ‘brave, bold and obvious,’ the designer threw a wild mix of cultural references into the Mix Mash pot for an energetic choice of combinations.
Prints included baroque swirls, graphic pop-art stripes and painterly hand-drawn styles. Where sleeves and shoulders were wide and rounded, the shirts’ silhouettes nodded towards 1960s futurism. While frills fell just below the knee other outfits kept a feminine feel.
