Stockholm – Designer Shane Schneck has created an inventive stacking chair for furniture brand HAY.
Unlike conventional chairs, the ‘RU’ chair is designed without the front legs. Instead its two back legs branch out at the bottom to form four feet. The chair is stackable and can also be hung on the edge of tables or desks, making it easy to clean under. It is ideal for places where space is at a premium, such as cafes, schools, offices and homes.
Made from wood, ‘its strength is gained by cross laminating layers in the seat which creates a cantilevered surface’, according to Schneck.
The ‘RU’ chair was first shown at the Stockholm Furniture Fair earlier this year.
