Mexico – Picking up your dog’s droppings is not an enjoyable experience for dog owners and neither is stepping in a pile that has been left on a public footpath.
To give Mexican dog owners an incentive to clean up after their pets and keep the public’s feet clean, internet provider Terra has launched a campaign that rewards people with free wifi for disposing of dog dirt.
After a dog has done its business, pet owners can collect it in a sanitary bag and deposit it into one of the Poo WiFi installations in 10 local parks. The poop is then weighed and a timer is activated with a number of free wifi minutes based on the weight received.
This campaign is a great example of a brand tapping into Ubiquitous Gaming Culture. By adding a gaming aspect to an otherwise laborious and stomach-turning task, Terra is engaging with consumers in a fun and rewarding way.
