Milan Salone 2016 Preview: Sense of movement

Milan – Nike has invited 10 multidisciplinary designers to get creative with its Flyknit trainer.

The Nation of Motion: A Free Revolution by NikeLab, Milan

The exhibition marks the sportswear brand’s second appearance at the festival, following its 2013 collaboration with interactive design studio Universal Everything.

Nike has invited 10 designers from a range of disciplines, including architect Greg Lynn and furniture maker and sculptor Martino Gamper, to examine the theme of natural motion using its Flyknit Superfly trainer as a starting point.

An installation by British furniture designer Max Lamb features blocks of granite, aluminium and polystyrene that float on an invisible film of compressed air to challenge perceptions of weight, and a series of oversized floor lamps designed by Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno are inspired by the natural motion of an athlete.
