Tokyo – We’ve seen the design hotel, and witnessed hospitality spaces that function around art. But now a new hotel has itself become an installation of sorts, with guests living and breathing within this piece of temporary art. Happa Hotel, the creation of architect Jo Nagasaka, includes guest rooms, shops, a bookstore and a café, and will remain at the Aoyama/Meguro Gallery throughout August. Up to three guests may stay and be part of the exhibition.
With art and design becoming second nature to hotels, this new cultural rebooting takes the guest further, making the actual hotel the artwork itself. Why look at the art hanging in a hotel corridor when you can be that art?
