Niederurnen, Switzerland – Swiss industrial designer Nicolas Le Moigne has presented a unique approach to design by creating a set of ‘new’ furniture that recycles cement matter that would otherwise be thrown away.
Trash Cube is the stark and beautiful collaboration between Le Moigne and Swiss manufacturer Eternit, renowned cement specialist in architectural circles. It hopes to provide a simple design solution to the vast amounts of cement composites discarded every year.
Taking on a minimalist aesthetic, stools are constructed using a mix of leftover cement and fibre, usually used to form outdoor objects such as roofing tiles and plant pots. The materials are easily condensed down and pushed through a mould to form a basic cube shape.
