Osaka, Japan – Design studio Facet Studio has completed the interior of a vintage store in Osaka, using natural materials including rice paper, linen fabric and layered sections of cedarwood to emphasise the passage of time.
The design of the Habitat Antique store uses timber stacked to form pillars, with display shelves slotted in between them.
‘Timber is a living material,’ the architects explain. ‘The section of this material records the passing of time in the form of growth rings. We layered the sections of timber to allow the timber sections to create the pattern of time for us.’
