US online retailer Gilt Groupe recently teamed up with GQ magazine to open a pop-up version of its men’s store Park & Bond in New York. For its Christmas 2011 shopping campaign, eBay opened a London pop-up store, inviting customers to shop for 200 best-sellers from its high-street retail brands including House of Fraser and The Entertainer. The till-free store featured QR codes next to products that shoppers scanned with their mobile phones to pay for purchases. The same products were then shipped to customers’ homes.
