The new voice in sustainable architecture is a passive one. Passive houses, whose design criteria were developed in the 1990s by Professor Wolfgang Feist, founder of the Passivhaus Institut in Germany, have recently been making the news again, as striking new examples around the world capture the attention of eco-minded homeowners and builders.
