Pavan joined The Future Laboratory as senior foresight analyst in January 2023. She is responsible for sourcing and writing articles across LS:N Global, identifying and developing trends and presenting reports to The Future Laboratory’s clients and community. Pavan is sector lead in media and technology, mostly because she loves bots. She previously worked as a cultural fluent at Iconoculture and also has experience as a creative and content writer and content strategist for the British Film Institute, Gucci and Amazon. Her writing about film, feelings and shopping at the end of the world has been published in Sight and Sound magazine, The New Inquiry and The Pitchfork Review among others.
What drew you to the world of trends and foresight?
All foresight analysts are a burly combination of nosy, opinionated and imaginative, and I am no exception. I studied politics, sociology and anthropology, and enjoyed learning about how cultures are made and how they move. I wanted a job where I could apply that thinking in real time, where I could observe patterns in human behaviour and consumption, and ask why, why, why all day long — that’s trends and foresight. Researching makes me feel very awake and writing makes me feel very alive.
What makes LS:N Global unique/why does it add value?
LS:N Global’s speed is unique, its analysts are able to quickly recognise what’s moving consumers and markets and swiftly identify the opportunities for business and brands. Across the board, The Future Laboratory is committed to work that is progressive and inspiring. LS:N Global aims to deliver insights that excite and empower clients; we want them to understand what the future is but also to feel that they belong to the future and that it belongs to them.
