Helsinki – To celebrate the city being named 2012 World Design Capital, a coffee shop installation called Kauko has opened in Helsinki’s Forum shopping mall, where the furniture and fittings are controlled by people online.
Visitors to the Kauko website can adjust the height of the tables and chairs, change the lighting and choose from a number of messages displayed on a lighting board.
This is an interactive and compelling way to advertise the city as 2012 World Design Capital to a global audience. For more insights on the tourism sector, read our Travel & Hospitality Futures report.
