London – An open-source public installation lets people project their designs onto a wall via Twitter.
Design collective Wasted Spaces commissioned London designers Pete Hellicar and Joel Gethin Lewis of Hellicar & Lewis to create the Hello Wall on London’s Wembley High Road.
The artwork has a single-colour background on which shapes move around. Passers by can tweet commands such as ‘move’, ‘slower’ or ‘faster’ to @thehellowall, or tweet instructions to display simple shapes such as triangles, circles and squares, which then appear on the wall.
‘The installation is designed to empower people, to allow them to have a creative input into the architectural space that they find themselves in – often without any sense of control or ownership,’ say Hellicar and Lewis.
The Hello Wall shows how brands can use interaction to reach customers, a theme explored in our Brandtocracies trend report.
