The Frankfurt motor show – or the IAA, as it is more formally known – only takes place every two years, but it is still one of the top six motor shows in the world. About 30 global launches have already been announced in the dozen or so halls, and all the leading global car brands will attend. The exceptions will be most Chinese marques and Saab, owing to its continuing financial woes. The premium German brands plan to unveil spectacular new models – BMW, Mercedes and Audi are taking over a whole hall each. Now in its 64th year, the IAA opens officially next Thursday, 15 September, and promises glimpses of now-, near- and next-generation automotive transport solutions.
