The successors to the New Millennials, Generation Ds are the first true ‘digital natives’. Born between 1994 and 2002, Generation Ds cannot remember a world without the internet. Academic Mark Prensky defines them as those for whom the use of technology is an inherent, not a learned, part of life. And there are lots of them: the world population of 5–14-year-olds was 1.2bn in 2009 according to Euromonitor International, so we can assume around 1bn Generation Ds.
